November 27, 2017- Environment change necessary for success

Hello November,

I realized I need another quantum leap before Christmas arrive and there is something that will change in my strategy. Ok, I have been writing, following a NaNoWriMo month, but it has gone slowly. I also got myself a part-time job in the art world from January.

These are absolutely great, but not at the pace I need to get myself into the next phase.

And in the middle of everything, I need to find a home.

So, what should I do?

Apparently, “However, when you commit to an enormous goal that far exceeds your current capability, willpower won’t solve your problem. Rather, you’ll need a new environment that organically generates your goals — a context that forces you to become more than you currently are. Once you design the right conditions, your desired behavior naturally follows” as I quote here B. Hardy 😉

The Warrior Creator or how to be relaxed and productive in the middle of a storm

Hello November,

this inspiring post of David Rogers on  The Warrior Creator

is the best way to start the weekend!

Relaxed and busy, how to stay focused on our work even if there is a storm outside.

So I am ready to put to use David’s advice, and be productive and relaxed way:

there is a short story I want to submit this weekend, and my NaNoWriMo novel is advancing, even a few lines a day.

I don’t need to look at the end, I just focus on the next steps.

November 17, 2017- Produce our best work: asking for feedback, not validation

Hello November,

how do we produce our best work?

I heard a speaker on the importance of combining talents and passions: in other words, not only do what we love, but also, use our talents, what we are good at in the process.

If becoming an astronaut looks good, do I really want to hang from the ceiling like this?

But again, what if I love the result and then I can learn to like or to get over certain inconveniences?

Is it a luxury to think about these issues when we don’t have enough to go around the next day?

No, it isn’t.

Long term thinking, is very important. Daily.

I can see that, because I have everyday practical questions to deal with.

But somehow, it feels that I need to focus on the long-term.

And then, only then, look into my everyday questions.

Writing, is my soul’s desire.

Some of the process has become less spontaneous, due to rejections I had from some publishers.

But is there another reason?

Do I expect validation from others for my work?

Feedback is important, but feedback and validation are two different things.

It’s also up to us to discriminate who is capable of giving good feedback.

If not, it is as if you are a goat and you ask the wolf to become your baby’s godfather.

Think about it twice

November 7, 2017- Getting energised when you want to stay under the duvet

Hello November,

this coffee shop looks like an airport with all these people crossing here and there.

So, let’s say that I wake up with a headache and morning walk, or anything of the kind is not working.

Ok, I wanted to wake up early, it didn’t work.

Then, I suggest not to insist.

At least I don’t have any meetings today, and I can work from home, or rest.

How about showing myself some respect and taking it easy.

Let’s give oneself a break, and do something different, read something different, let our mind wander, no matter what.

It feels like I need a change of perspective.

I already started working on the novel, so this is great already.

November 6, 2017-Birthday month and how you got to be ;-)

Hey November,

for me it’s like a beginning of a New Year, so it is time for an update: am I taking the path of self-development?

Because this is independent of age, in my eyes.

Hm, more fun? More interaction with significant people?

And all the practical questions that go with it.

But first and foremost, let’s face it:

My heart’s desire is writing.

Creating.

So, no matter what, the day should include this.

Every night.

And then, sharing!

How do you meet your practical needs if you follow your heart’s desire?

It should be automatic shouldn’t it?

Let’s see how it goes.

November 3, 2017- Fear of publishing and NaNoWriMo to face it

Hello November,

I just singed up in National November Writing Month, and it feels so great to announce a novel in a month! Since I have identified the fear of publishing as one of my biggest ones, let’s see how it goes now that I have taken this step.

So, my novel is starting, a sequel to a previous one, and let’s see how it goes!

I already have a title and I am to write every day. One Month, One Novel.

November 2, 2017- Flourish in November: Writing Month!

Hello November,

yes, I know this is the time for the leaves to fall down as winter is coming… but couldn’t we flourish as humans despite this fact?

How can this be possible?

Here is a great idea: November, is a writing month. So, let’s put oneself into this novel again!

November 19 and 20, 2016: Whatever you think, think the opposite (ladybug challenge)

Hello November,

here I am again, with a considerable amount of work, unanswered mails, a book plan pending and a group of people who thought my last presentation sucked.

How do I turn this around?

“Whatever you think, think the opposite”!

This is the advice of the day.

So I have some work I love and I am on top of it, everybody loves and admires my presentation, and what is more, I have an artistic portfolio that has substance and a book that is practically finished.

Glory and wealth awaits in the next corner, and YES, the World will be saved from itself!

November 17, 2016-how to feel good no matter what- ladybug day 2

Dear November,

I had a piece of unpleasant information today, related to my performance with an artistic group. I got a negative evaluation from some clients although my new boss seems to see some potential in me.

How do I transform this into a good feeling?

Well, to begin with, because I have had time with bad feelings, so I am kind of bored. Why not change?

It is so banal to feel bad because someone gives you a bad report. How about feeling good, even elated?

Oh, you didn’t appreciate my style, you don’t want me?

Thank you for letting me concentrate on other things. I might learn something out of it. I asked around to see how I could give a better performance. On the other hand, style is sooo personal…

Maybe someone else does appreciate my style.

I could appreciate my style, to begin with.

I think I am pretty cool.

When I doubt.

When I stumble

When I fall.

And when I get back on my feet and dance!

P.S. I contacted some editors today and my former school teacher who thought I rock!
