I am again in France, “chez moi”, in other words, in my hometown at the mountains of the Alpes-Maritimes, the part of the Alpes which goes all the way down to the Mediterranean sea. Isn’t it just wonderful to combine the mountains and the sea?
Some people could wonder why would I ever have the idea to leave, but it is also wonderful to come back rich from experiences of other parts of the world!
With 3 hours sleep I feel happy to get back to coffee and ditch tea for a while… at the café of my hometown.
But in any case, I am here with a special mission. Check how it goes with my book, it seems that my editor is a bit lazy and we need a boost. All the village people were curious or were harassed to buy my book. Now it would be good to open up to a broader public. At least the next villages and the region 😉
after having worked for hours on my project with a Roumanian and a French artist, I only want to share my afternoon tea-time. The Roumanian artist, who is a 40 something year old, has lived for a while in London and she suggested a place for tea. She is working part-time in a cosmetics company and the rest of the time she writes.
In any case, she took us to BB bakery for our afternoon tea, and we looked a little bit like these three characters in the photo. I would be the one in the middle holding a macaron, only that I chose a macaron “pistache” and I had a lot of fun: “Amidst the hustle and bustle of busy Covent Garden is the relaxing sanctuary of BB Bakery. Come here to relax with a coffee and cupcake before you hit the shops or stop for high tea or even a bite to eat before your evening out”.
There is something very girlish and playful about this place which is just what I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of my serious every day life 🙂
where were I these first days? I was travelling towards the South of France, in my hometown, a small place somewhere in the ” Alpes Maritimes. Yes, I will keep it a secret for the moment. Because in this way I can talk about people in the art world without having to reveal my identity or theirs.
People are not as important as situations, interactions, and this is similar to every human being on earth… and different at the same time. That is why we are blogging and sharing experiences.
I plan to stay here for a while and then enjoy the seaside, there are so many beautiful spots in this area!
I also need to release some pressure and forget my plans, let the universe take charge and take a nap!
it is our national celebration of the Revolution, so : “Allons enfants de la Patrie, le jour de Gloire est arrivé!” … and yes, you can watch again the fireworks in this link: http://www.paris.fr/actualites/votre-14-juillet-a-paris-2747
I was there with a group of friends, at the Champ de Mars with many other people, enjoying this revolution of light, fire, music and each other’s company!
The main theme has been “Paris welcomes the World“, with some hints on the 2024 application of the city of light for the Olympic Games. And of course, diversity and multiculturalism. Mexico has been the honorary guest, with present of the Mexican President.
We were multicultural in our group, siting on the grass with some friends and other 500 thousand people. It was too good someone brought apricots and water…
Some were getting up and others would ask them to sit. There were even those who brought chairs from home and a table, naps and glasses for a dinner outside. It was much fun!
Why is it that we love fireworks so much? Is it the light, the fire that brings hope and festive feelings? May be it is the colour and fire in the darkness of the night, a certainty that things will be ok and somehow beauty is possible for everyone!
I just came back to Paris from Istanbul, and the temperature is not what I would have expected: we are like cookies baking in the oven, with high temperatures, whereas in Istanbul, there was an agreeable sea breeze.
I feel a little bit overwhelmed, a lot of things happened, but the most important is that I have made progress in ways I couldn’t have expected.
The artistic event I had been planing was a success and I will get back to you with more details as soon as I empty my suitcase!
What I liked the most? The Bosphorus cruise on our last day, was quiet amazing!
have I mentioned that I promised to organize a mini artistic event in Istanbul by the end of the month? I had invited some artists, but there is a risk that the wannabe boss might not pay for their expenses. He promised to do it as a “bonus” to me, if I leave “quietly”, without protesting complaining.
Maybe because I am more powerful than I think.
On the other hand, I had a really hard time to reimburse my artists last year for the event in the South of France. What do you mean if there is any written evidence of the promise. No, there isn’t any.
And yes, I could have been more organized and asked instead of avoiding the question for the last two months. But I felt overwhelmed with other issues and it was too much to add this one.
On the other hand, I really want to go to Istanbul, a mythical city. And somehow, deep down, I feel that I am going to make it.
The other thing I need to keep in mind is that this is a good time to look for jobs and this is more urgent.
Istanbul is a great project, it blows my mind but it is like a firework, and I need some steady fire to warm my home and cook dinner.
my friend from Antwerp, the Northern part of Belgium came for a couple of days and already left. My mission was to help him out find a beautiful spot for a summer-house in the South of France. I would have picked up some unknown place at the Hautes Alpes, but he was obsessed with the Côte d’Azur. After all, why not choose a classic? If Picasso, among others loved this area, why not my friend?
We walked and walked, drove here and there, asked questions and answered others. Finally, he decided Saint Tropez is the spot he likes. But he will come back again with his family during the summer to visit again the properties offered.
In any case, it was a beautiful excuse to see again spots I am familiar with and always make my day when I am there. At a moment when they are so much quieter than in the summer time 🙂
It was important for my spring break to fill my eyes and mind with beautiful images, smell the sea and the spring flowers, watch the coast line. I could put myself in the place of my friend and imagine it is I who is deciding for a summer-house. It is a sort of commitment. Like a marriage, I guess. You pick this place and you decide to create a more permanent bond.
To dedicate part of your time. Other places can be more beautiful or exciting. You can still visit them and never return. But once you pick up a place you call your own, it becomes a center of gravity, pulling you there 🙂
thanks to the nice weather you have offered us, I started a new habit in my hometown: a morning trek, or to be more honest, a walk in the beautiful paths nearby.
Don’t imagine anything very sporty: it is a half an hour, or an hour walk, every morning, the last few days. Looking at the beautiful flowers, grass and trees feels so very inspiring!
I like to take nobody else than myself in this brief walk. I barely nod to people or animals which might cross my path. This is a moment to observe and clear my mind from all sort of clutter: thoughts which crowded my mind in my last Parisian days. A spring break’s objective is to bring me closer to spring, and let new ideas emerge!
Sometimes I bring my iPod for some music, or something inspirational. Other times, nothing at all. I keep walking, listening to the birds, smelling the earth and flowers.
Something else I would like to do is to refresh my driving skills. I don’t have a car in Paris, but it is another “physical activity” that helps me feel different. A friend has promised to give me some free lessons in hers, so we will see what will come out of it 🙂
In any case, I realize that I need more play and fun, so the spring break is here to help me change perspective and format my hard drive 🙂
